Ice Racing in Thunder Bay

A tradition that started back in 1959, ice racing in Thunder Bay has gone on longer than anywhere in Canada.
An easy way into the world of motorsports, the Thunder Bay Auto Sports Club runs races on weekends through the winter.
Racing starts at 12 pm out at Mission Bay with a studded and non studded series.
With the biggest snowfall of the year looming, I figured it would be a great day to check it out.
Green flag drops for the first run of the studded series.
Best to get out front, because the snow was flying and the visibility was low.
These cars get going pretty good. The studded cars hit up to around 100mph.
Cautions out.
Quick tow to the pits.
It wasn't the coldest day, but at -25 with the windchill,
I could imagine working on your car on the shore of Lake Superior could be interesting.
On deck.
If you're ever in the area, you have to check this out.
Good free weekend fun, plus you can sit in your truck and watch if its too gnarly out.
